Same here. They are cheap so you can have several pairs handy if one gets wet and for days that aren’t quite as cold, get a six pack of the uninsulated pairs. I don’t have any problem casting with them and if you want you can snip halfway through the index finger and have a flip off cover for that finger and still cast without the fabric in the way.
Same here! They are cheap. Buy a dozen for about $5.00 at flea market. If they get wet change pair & fish-on!
Wilbur I’ve used a mitten type wool glove for years. Tried others including neoprene and nothing works like wool with the fingers exposed for dexterity under cold/wet conditions. I take several heart meds which have a side effect of cold fingers and feet so I know of what you speak. These gloves I purchased at Tractor Suopply Company (TSC). The tips fold over and velcro to the back of the hand for exposing the fingers when dexterity is needed. Since they’re wool they stay warm when wet like when unhooking a fish and the fingers comes up far enough (just exposes the finger tips) that your finegrs stay warm even while the mitt is folded down. When it’s time to get up and go you can keep them on for steering with the mitten part up. If ya can’t find wool go for fleece next but nothing beats wool for warmth when it’s wet. Now if I could just find some crappies to reel in with my nice warm fingers.
I have two pair I use. But mostly I use them when moving around the lake to keep warm obviously. But I find when I am fishing (I troll most of the time) I just keep my bare hands in my coat pocket and that works well. When I get my hands wet I dry them off and back into the pocket. This would not work if you were holding a rod all the time.
Glacier Gloves with no fingers and mitten flap. Let us know hoe the Frabill gloves work though.
