I was going to suggest that you make different lure shapes by fusing the body and tail from two different soft plastics after melting the ends with a candle flame. But then I remembered you saying you’re a minnow fisherman. While watching TV I make hybrid lures. Organizing tackle is a challenge but little by little I’ll get done.
If your weather is anything like N.Y.'s, it’s gotten bitter cold and pretty much everyone is in the same boat staying warm. Yesterday I had the bright idea to go on-line to different supermarket sites, search for products I use and do some compitive shopping to see who sells certain products cheaper - especially those on sale. I made up a spread sheet with three ciolumns for the three stores I shop at and was amazed how much I could save knowing what to buy and where.
You might want to use a Roku streaming stick that connects to your TV. There are a vast number movies to watch via Netflix, TUBI tv, Amazon Prime, Spectrum, Acorn etc. Some are subscription only, other no charge except they have commercials. I’ve made a spreadsheet of over 800 movies I’ve watched and rated - some worth rewatching in a year or two. Regular TV is a waste and not worth the time it takes to change channels.
Get well and keep mentally active. The human brain is there for a reason and needs as much exercise as the body to stay fit and focused.
Thanks. Pretty much what I did today. Watch our cat watch the birds. We got the cat from a shelter and think it was left to fend for itself for a few months this past summer. It’s the 2nd hunting cat we have had. She has no interest in going outside, must have been rough for her. She did manage to find a mouse in the garage and promptly brought it in the house. i watched the mouse escape into the basement. that cat hunted it all night long. i assume she ate it. She was meowing pretty proudly about 3am…
Bird’s have stopped feeding and are resting someplace. Cat is napping.
We have a big bay window 4’x8’ in the living room and the birds fly into the glass a couple times a week. Freaks the cat out. She jumps to kill and gets frustrated when she misses.. I’ll look into a bird feeder outside the window. Thanks for the suggestion. that ought to get the cat excited too…
Hello Ship,
Thanks for the prayers. I made camping reservations for one of my Crappie tournaments next year. I’m already planning. This weekend I make reservations for Memorial weekend. Already started on vacation plans for next year. My challenge is getting the family to understand I make plans 6 months in advance. They want to wait until a week or two before and then make plans. Doesn’t work anymore. campgrounds have been filling up sooner and sooner.
My wife isn’t really interested in my fishing stories… haha. But she does take interest when I mention spending money on new gear.
About ready to get the lake maps out of the boat so i can study them again. i study them every winter. Plus I made a power supply for my sonar units. I can play with them in my recliner during the winter.
I could
Dang, wish you lived closer,I need a buddy too after 5 yrs of looking out the windows at birds,I need a project manager to help with my projects I got going on,I also always could use help either making jigs or pouring jigheads,I used to build custom arrows and tune bows for hunting season but buying a new press isn’t in my budget right now,
I too know something about having to sit round. Like you, I’m happier when my hands are busy. Don’t know if you’ve watched it or not but the series Yellowstone has been pretty good, wife hates some of the language though. I was raised around feeding birds and feeders. Fooling with the squirrels can be fun too. Squirrel proof feeders make them do some funny stuff. I can’t offer any new books, most of mine come from the used book store. Tying jigs does it for me sometimes, look up some new patterns on FAOL and tie a fly pattern on a jig head. Dubbing bodies is fun and the bluegill love the fuzzy look those bodies have. Some big gills and crackers fell to mine this past summer. Haven’t fished fresh water for a few months and the ramps are still closed from the hurricanes so any prep there is out. Holler at me in a pm if you need a few jigheads to fool with. I make some small ones that work good under a float. Heal fast and please be patient and don’t overdo your limits. I’ve had a couple of close calls doing that while healing, no fun. Hopefully it will be in the rear view before you know it.
This was a good video. I enjoyed it. I’ve been noticing several guys using way heavier jigs and weights and dropping faster then I would have ever thought would work. I’m going to experiment with this my next time out.
