How about winner take all but second gets there money back? or make it a little more then pay 2nd and 3rd? just an idea? Maybe 35$???
2hrs, maybe also weigh 5???
I don’t know how much people are wanting to spend on a weekly basis. Right now I am thinking 25 per boat paying two places with a 60/40 or 70/30 split and paying a third over ten boats. 5:30 to 8:30 weigh four. I know the bass club does 50 a night, but for starters that might be a little steep. I was also thinking about a classic at the end of the year at a lake that gets voted on. I am hoping to have the first one the 18th of this month which is a thursday.
Yes, sounds like a good system. I think 25 per boat keeps the interest and keeps it fun too. I like this plan (70/30 unless 10 boats or more) and will look to participate as often as possible.
Sounds like a good deal to me lets get it going
Alright we are going to push it back a week. We are going to try to get some sponsers and have give aways. We are probably going to pay back ninety percent, we have to have a permit everynight. I am also going to have to buy a scale, the cheapest so far is $350. Please have patience with me for this is a work in progress.
We should find a way to have dues or sumthin to pitch in on the scales.
I’m hoping that we might be able to get a title sponser and they will pay enough to buy the scale. I am going to make a few phone calls tomorrow and see if I can find one. It might be wishfull thinking. A friend that is helping me with this owns his own print shop. So he is going to print up all the flyers and entry forms as his sponsership. If all goes right this thing might actually look like we know what we’re doing.
I know I’m cheap but why spend the $350 on scales when those 50 lb digital scales would work just fine for a weigh in.
Just calibrate the scale by weighing something before weighing the tournament catch and at the end of the weigh in just weigh the calibration thingy again and if it weighs the same then one could safely assume the scale was correct in determining which creel weighed the most and just were each creel would fit in the hierarchy of weights.
For purposes of each tournament just be sure to use the same scale to weigh all results for any given tournament.
Just the opinion of someone who likes cheap and simple. :D;)
I’m all about cheap and simple LBM. I don’t know if those scales wiegh to the hundreth of an ounce, you would be surprised at how often it comes down to that.
I noticed that you are from Louisburg. Check with the Circle C owner he seems like a very nice guy. Could hang a banner for him every thursday for a small donation. How high of weight does the scale need to go too?
5:30 might be a little hard to make for some of us. 6-6:30 ? I live and work in olathe and don’t get off til 5 there is no way I can make it even if I pull the boat to work which I will. Any body live in north joco would have a really hard time I would think just my 2 cents
I would be coming from Lawrence. I could not make it any earlier than 6p and that would be cutting it close.
I think we finally have all the details worked out. It is going to be $30 per boat, with a $10 optional big crappie pot. You can fish by yourself or with a partner. We will be paying back 90% with 60% to first and 30% to second. Over ten boats we will pay a third spot. Weigh your four biggest legal crappie. Take off is from 5:45 to 6:00 p.m. out of Jayhawk marina on Hillsdale, check in is at 9:00 p.m. at Jayhawk Marina. The first night is Thursday the 25th of June, it will be every other week after that going through September. We will be placing flyers/entry forms around the local area. If you would like me to mail you one just send me a pm with your address. Let me know if I have left anything out. I hope to see you guys out there.
Thanks,
Ryan
Sounds good ready to give it a try its been awhile since I fished Hillsdale but sounds like after work fun to me
Ryan,
Thanks for setting this up. Hopefully it wasn’t too much of a pain. I look forward to meeting you guys. ![]()

i’m from MO but work in KS and get out to Hillsdale once in a while. 6pm might be cutting it close for me (and it sounds like some others too); any rules against launching at 6:15 - 6:30? I would give up the 15-30 minutes just to get to fish with and meet some fellow CDC members.
Its not a problem to start late. After everyone launchs I will go out and fish for fun tell weigh in time. If I know someone is going to be running late I will stay and collect the money and do the livewell check. As long as the person running late doesnt have a problem fishing in a shorter amount of time then everyone else. So just let me know and I can send you my cell # or just send me a pm the week of. We also are going to have three outlaw rods to give away during the season and will have some for sale as well.
Thanks
Ryan
We picked up a flyer at Rands on Saturday and it looks great. You guys put a lot of work into this and I look forward to coming out on Thursday.
