I remember when I got my boat. It is a 1998 Ranger R61 with a 90 Johnson. That was back in 2001. It was the second used boat I have bought (never a new one). I figure that when a used boat is being sold that there is a problem somewhere. The first boat was very hard to start. Fixed that by doing a 180 with a wire that was touching the choke spring (no cost). The second boat (the Ranger) would not ride on the trailer properly. Would straps on the back would come loose and boat would touch one of the fenders. After doing some checking I discovered that the original owner had the same problem and had drilled holes in the fender to moved it out. To make a long story short Ranger finally had the boat sent back to factory and the fixed the trailer (no cost). The trailer was out of warranty and I Ranger went out of their way to help me. Now the boat never moves when trailering.
Just to let everyone know, I took the boat out yesterday with the family, was able to put me a good size cooler in the back for drinks and some sandwich meat and bread and chips…
Boat fished like an absolute dream, rod holders are in the perfect position, wife and daughter was comfy in the back.
Caught about 20 at Lake Reese kept 8 … emptied live well of the water and threw ice from cooler in there and put them to sleep, drove home, filleted them out and we ate them and some fries and leftover shrimp from the freezer…
It was a great day and I never knew how much nicer it is to have a little room to move around in a boat…
Great report Greenchicken. Glad the new boat works just right for you and your family. Seems like there is lots of fun to be had in it. I agree with you on having more room makes it nice. When I got “The Skiff” and sold the aluminum Polar craft it was like moving from a loft apartment to a 4 bedroom house.
Awesome looking boat. I’m in the proccess of rigging a 2004 Triton 2070 for crappie fishing. It’s going to be pretty awesome also. I’ll make a post with pics when I finish it. Waiting on my Minn Kota I-Pilot right now..
