water type and clarity seems to make a difference in how the units are perceived from different brand sonar units.
They don’t show up as well when they are new but as the alge builds up on them, they give a stronger return.

“Not all pvc is created equal”
Dropped 3 fishidings Sunday with their locator floats attached. Marked them on HB 798 and went back to them using gps 3 different times. Found location and markers but can’t see them yet.
Am no expert, but assuming sonar is similar to radar (operating in a much denser enviroment), your "targets" orientation to the sonar beam generally will be better approaching and receding than when directly overhead, assuming they are standing straight up. DO keep in mind that the PVCs density, water temps, and the type of beam ALL can effect their “visibility”. Even with SI, they are going to be small "targets’ when directly over them unless you bend a few sections horizontal…
