I hear ya man, I use to go all the time - seemed like I always had a boat full of people & they were getting more out of it than I was using my boat & equipment.
When I was younger a friend of mine’s dad had a wingnet boat & I used to go with him & we would catch 100 gallons or so. I’ve had my share
of head poppin and sortin through the jelly & grass & other strange creatures that show up at night. Now, where we used to go gets really crowded when the shrimps are running, I’m not much for crowds so I usually just buy some from a friend that goes. I’ve seen some real idiots getting crazy at the ramp & then out there bumping into peoples
boats, not as fun as it used to be.
How about a picture of you dipping. I would love to see how you do it. Sounds like you just see them coming by and reach out with a net.
Yes D as they go by in the current you try to net them with a large headed net that has small holes.
Sometimes they can see the net coming & they get away
Nice haul and fine eating

D, you should be getting a link to a community on FB that will line it all out for you
Unreal, those are huge! I have to try that some time. Maybe next year. I have drool coming down at the corner of my mouth, good eats right there. Thanks for sharing.
“D”, There’s all kinds of You-Tube videos showing folks shrimping etc, etc, etc …
ya’ll should have plenty shrimping being done over there your way = check into it etc, etc, etc …
La water too muddy I would imagine. But if you find somewhere with probably 5’ visibility guarantee it would work. But water was too silty for it when I lived there.
Here’s some pics of railroad bridge…
The one pic of almost dark = see the pole sticking up in the sky = my net pole
with tennis ball on it’s end = so it floats if I drop it in etc, etc …
Looks like a parking lot Danny. I remember some nights down by Lefils that it was lit up like a small city, and anchor lines overlapped. 5 gallons in 3 hrs on our best night.
mouth watering pics :biggrin
Wow, those look great Danny, if your ever going by yourself and have an empty seat I would love to learn how to catch shrimp.
Vic, I been 7-8 times with little results…
I knew eventually I’d get the sweet spot…
Ya just got to get a net and some underwater lights and “go for it” …
There’s folks on the Titusville pier that don’t even use underwater lights,
They get those little clamp on spot lights that shine over the top of the water = they do good too …
Fact is, just like crappie fishin = ya go to go to learn/catch …
I can’t help anyone right now, got plenty of close friends wanting to go = I tell em = buy a boat mo-yawn,
I have other phrases I use but not suitable for this forum etc, etc, etc …! ! ! ! ! !
Just typical stuff, someone finds a gold mine = everyone wants in etc, etc, etc…
I’m still not satisfied = want to come home with a “full pull” (5-gal) that’ll satisfy me for the year etc, etc, etc …
You and Eileen would be good candidates for shrimping = ya’ll would love it, consider getting into it = like crappie, it only lasts
for a few months then it’s gone for the year (however during the summer, from Daytona north they cast net “white” shrimp during the day)…
Would love to take everyone that wants to go but …
(funny = nobody wanted to go till I finally got a mess LOL )…
That’s just human nature …
“Ya either break trail, or ya follow trail” …
My lips still droolin’
Amazing how loud them shrimp call at ya. We done ate 2 quart bags of em. Them look good Danny.
NOW THAT JUST AIN"T RIGHT!!!
I would expect something like that to be on my plate at the next slabtogether.
Rofl NOT
Did I hear Shrimptogether!
Vic, check out some of the videos on shrimpin get yourself a light and net and have at it. Like Danny said he tried 6 or 7 times before he hit them good. My first time out I was lucky enough to hit a good night and my son and I got around 2 gallons would have gotten more but we only had one net to dip with. I was trying to grab them with my hand when my son was dipping. The next two trips out nada nothing but a hand full. And oh the boats you would think that no shrimp could ever servive the onslaught. If you are lucky enough to go during the week go then and avoid the crowd, well some of the crowd on the weekends. Us poor workin folks have no choice.
