Where were you on September 11, 2001?

Teaching pe at oxford middle school .

I was sleeping when it all started to unfold, I had just came off of a very busy 24 hour shift that felt like a 36 hour shift. My wife woke me up saying you really need to see this. We like many others contemplated picking our children up from school, we decided to leave them there until we evaluated the risk vs safety further. They sure accomplished there goal in striking fear in the majority of Americans.

God bless all those who lost there life that day, and there loved ones as well as friends.

Jeff

I had taken a good friend to a TV and appliance place to see about some problems he was having with a new big screen. Watched the second plane impact on a dozen TV’s. Matthew took his own life this past valetines day, something else I’ll never understand. Some days I just have to put my head down and plod along. I have lots of family in the city, thankfully we didn’t lose any. God Bless America, and all who gave it all that day.

I was at work, One of my old mechanic friends told me about it. I thought it was just the start of another of Bob’s goofy jokes. He said: “I’m ****** serious” boy was he right.

i was on my way home from work i pulled 3erd shift at the time got in the house and was getting my pot of coffee ready and my shower water turned the tv on well i was up for most of the day the thing i remember the most is that week after looking up in the sky at night or the day time and not seeing a plane for a week i dont live to far from three int airports

Skeetbum, Sometimes we all just plod away. I was one of many who shared your grief that dreadful day.I am one with sympathy for your good friend. Hang in there and remember when you’re plodding that other people care. Isn’t it great that we get away from so many worries when we have a good crappie on the end of the line. Those feelings are a true gift to us. God Bless.

Working in DC. Not 20 minutes earlier I drove down the road that is just a couple hundred feet from where the plane hit the Pentagon. I will never forget seeing the smoke on my way home that night. I spent the better part of the next two weeks working directly with the FAA trying to get airplanes back in the air (safe & secure)

Attending my 1st class of the day during my senior year in high school. I remember walking home later that day watching Air Force 1 take off from the base being escorted by a couple of F-16’s.

I was at work, when another worker came in and told me what was going on.

The daughter of a friend of ours, was working at the trade center, and had just left the office, to do some errands when it all happened.

I was at work going to take a break and got a message to call my wife, that is now my exwife. I could hear the fear in her voice as she told me about the first plane hitting the TWC and as we talked the second plane hit. It took me all evening to gain the composure to explain to my two early teen step sons why some group would want to do this…In the days after the attack the churches were full and the level of patriotism was high but if you look around now you will see that alot of that is gone and it is a shame..I have alot more to say but since this is not off topic forum I wont…

A buddy of mine has a landscaping buisness and I was in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware helping him mow lawns. Had my radio headsets on and had to stop and listen. One of the clients invited me in to watch TV. I’ll never forget people jumping out of the windows. I can’t even begin to imagine how bad it would have to be to do that. I drove a truck part time and was in Lower Manhattan often, it was hard to imagine those massive buildings being gone that fast. I worked at Dover AFB, De full time on swing shift, it took forever to get on base that afternoon. It had pretty much calmed down by the time I arrived for my shift but I guess it was pretty crazy that morning while everything was going on.

I was in the middle of the lake fishing. My wife called me on the cell phone saying “The whole world is coming to an end. They just attacked the United States in New York.” Needless to say I hurried home and watched the news the rest of the afternoon.

I was at a pawn shop, on my day off, shopping for a firearm. Saw the first plane hitting-video footage, on the tv in that store. Turned on the radio while driving home, listening to the local CBS radio affiliate give accounts of what was going on in NYC. Got home, and watched the tragedy unfold for the rest of the day. Very surreal. God Bless America.

I was over New Mexico headed to Vegas and they made us land the plane and we rented a car and drove home.
