hey guys what is best all around size to get for Gills/bream? i want to order some Aberdeen hooks for these species for use with live baits. wax and maggots for gills. thanks!
I have used mustad no.6 which is a blue wire hook for many years
and it works real well.
6 and 8.
If you are still getting gut hooking, try size 8 Octopus circle hooks, if you can find them.

8 and I use 10’s many times. Smaller the hook and line, better the bite.
I mainly use size 8 and once in a while a size 10.

Owner mutu light circle hook size #10, BPS is the only place that I can find them, no more gut hooking.

214 eagle claw; regular wire not the extra light wire- will handle those bull bream and shellcrackers in heavy cover. I have used that hook for about 50 yrs.
I’m a big fan of the #10 as well, smaller the hook, the more fish I catch, I also prefer the long shank as it helps me unhook them

I like 8 with long shank.
can’t go wrong with size 10-6 really.i do use size 14-12 sometimes but on jigs and flies and artificials without any live bait.chances are with a bit of worm or other live bait its gonna gut hook the fish with a size 12 or smaller hook.
