Blackshear

My brother is headed over Saturday for the first time, I’ve only been once so I don’t have much information for him other that go to Flint River Outdoors and get some jigs. This will be his first time trolling jigs on his own. I ordered him and Navionics map card for his GPS so he can see the channel and ledges. We are going camping at the state park March 12-14 but he wanted to go scope out the lake before we went camping.

Can anyone give some colors that may work and an area he can start? Anything will help.

Orange colors and blue colors are good in the lake. Not sure this year whats hot. Prolly need to be fishing deep. Channels and ledges if dragging bugs.

Thank you.

With the water muddy I would be using Firetiger, Horsefly, Kentucky Lake Killer, Christmas tree, Halloween, Mistake…if its stained or clear anything with blue in it and a pink head.

Thanks. I’m headed to Eufaula so I will pass the work to him.

Water color is good…flats in front of State Park is good starting point.

My brother went Saturday and tried his best trolling. He caught 3. I talked to him several time throughout the day and I told him to fall in line with other boats trolling until he got it figured out. We will be at the camp ground the 12th-14th.

Blackshear is a tough lake. It will humble you from time to time. I have been fishing there for 20 years and just when I think I have it all figured out, it will get me.

that is the fun of fishing .

Yall keep letting Curtis Hobbs fish over there you want have any crappie. He will catch them All. LOL

Lake Blackshear in my opinion is the hardest lake to consistently catch fish. We caught 33 last trip but only after the fish moved up from the channel. Next 30 days should be prime for fishing.

If all you guys would put in lots of orders for jigs at the same time, maybe he will stay home to make them and give us more fish to catch.:rofl:Rofl:Rofl:Rofl

Yep.

1st two weeks of April has always been good for me at Blackshear.

I just ordered my mom some of his jig heads with spinners. He sent me one in his extra packs last year and she loves it.

It will definitely leave you wondering sometimes:scratchhead. We ended up Sunday with 16 from 8:00 til 12:00. All were scattered in various spots. Most were caught off the channel.
