Good weekend coming up! Where you fishing?

Just thought I would get everybody in the mood as the weather is going to break alittle.
Where you fishing this weekend? I am going to hit Patoka myself. Saturday seems to be developing out to be better weatherwise so far than Sunday. But I am not counting Sunday out at all,as I will be at Patoka again if not Monroe even tho its about 7.6 ft above summer pool. I drove over the dam of Monroe on my way home from work this afternoon and stopped at the turnaround at the end of the dam,and saw a couple of fish hit in the corner straight below in the trees..water was so great looking at the dam even tho I know the upper end has to be very muddy. So I might just fish Patoka Sat. then Monroe Sun.. decisions…decisions,Hands Clapping

Not enough hours in this weekend to do everything I want. I’m gonna stay close to home and fish a couple smaller holes. I’ve got a good idea where to find some some hog gills and ears right about now.
I came across the causeway on Monroe yesterday…personally, I don’t think the color will be too bad east of there. Yeah, we got more rain, but the creeks were all running fairly clear. Good luck!

North central Indiana is still a mess; rivers and res. flooded, muddy and lakes still with rotten ice. More rain and wind on they way. No “good weekend” comming up here. :frowning:

I’m going to head out Sat. But not expecting a whole lot, drove to a local lake last night and chocolate milk was the flavor of the water. Visiblility about 6".

channel cats close to home.

headed to brookville sat

Hope everybody gives a report on their fishing this weekend..i will do so as well..

Does anyone know what the water at Patoka looks like? is it muddy? Just the river muddy? anyone know?

Staying home and chasing the wife around the house this weekend before I really get started fishing. With traveling for work, The crappie club and my guide service I won’t be seeing the wife for a few months.
Good luck to everyone who gets out… Please post a report.

upper part of Patoka, above Walls boat ramp, might be heavily stained, but below will clear up the farther down you will get..same will go for Lick Fork upper arm will be stained to maybe muddy, but father north in it,will clear up as main lake is clear, and all the main areas are clear, they didn’t get the rain everybody else got,as its only come up 5.2 ft in the past couple of weeks, its only 1.2ft above summer pool right now..At this time of the year,I find the warmest water around Walls boat ramp as stained to muddy water will warm up faster than clear..I know last year, the warmer water wast there after ice out,as I went over to Lick Fork and fished it,and it was 5-7 degrees colder even tho I did catch fish over there, they were smaller tho,so went back to Walls, and did very nice in March, the forcast for not this weekend, but the next week is warmer and in the 60’s…spring is getting closer, the best is yet to come as they say!

I plan on hitting Monroe this Saturday and possibly Sunday. No idea what the water on boat ramps are like at the moment but will find out soon enough. Plan on catching some crappie and channel cats.

Drove around Monroe today, just to look at it,at cutright, they have a sign at the normal launch to use the High Water Launch which is just past the In. Bass Docs and weigh in area..can’t miss it,but it was muddy and very stained, you couldn’t see in the water but about 1 ft. off the bank, and driving over the causeway the entire area was muddy to stained very bad..Drove to Paynetown launch and there was 2 boats launched from there..it was alittle better looking but not much, drove to the Dam and it was very picture perfect..Lake is now up by 8.7ft. and at dam is clear and totally blue green, awesome looking, but water to the touch was super cold. Not sure where the mud line to the lake is.

Thanks cevans for your info on monroe. I’m sure that may help some folks going down. I think I will hit some small TM only lakes that I hope are not muddied up. Should be interesting. Taking the gill / ear arsenal, but keeping crappie stuff close by. Never know what you will run into.

At any rate, I saw where it will be 15-25 mph winds on Sat…out of west though. On Monroe that could be bad since it is an east/west lake. Maybe find a north south cove like moores creek , ramp creek, sugar creek…or if you like mud…then saddle creek might be fishable in terms of wind.

brookville, both days likely.
Possibility of a small tournament on sunday.

The 15-25 mph wind won’t be any fun Saturday on Monroe but i’m so tired of not being out i’m gonna hit it regardless ( heard 35 mph gusts also). Planning on taking a few days off next week since kids have spring break and do some fishing, so far the weather looks to be pretty nice next week.
