Green Country Tackle Show

I was there yesterday and if you are thinking of going I would reconsider I had a pass to get in and thought it sucked however if you need wooly beaver tails Huckabee is there and has them and crappie pro jigheads Mr Crappie was there also with his line of stuff as was Outlaw Poles there are a few others that have crappie stuff but over all I would not spend 9 bucks to go in

I’ve talked to several people who don’t plan to go because of the cost to enter. I think it might bomb out for them in that location this year.

:eek:Thats what I was told as well, after we talk it over at the get-together there’s going to be a FREE crappie fishing show in Oklahoma, it might be held in a haybarn, but oh-well.

I can find a place just need to know who would show up

George, I think ya know how ta get ta those backroad/backwoods places around this part of the country dont ya… hahahahhaaaaa, think ya gotta turn left when ya get ta the cow thats always on the corner.. hahhahaaaa

just pull’n yer leg…

JAKE

I think having our own show is a great idea. I’m also a ham and the club I belong to sponsers a ham radio show annually and its always great.

But you should consider an entrance fee, however small. It cost money to do a show and someone will have to eat it if you don’t have some type of entrance fee.

$9 is ridiculous, $2-$4 is within reason.

I just got home and they took a step backwards this year for sure. The building with the booths is very cramped with little isle space. Tomorrow morning will be a zoo. However, if you want to hear someone speak at a seminar they are free. Just go in through the front door of the casino and walk to the back where the stage is, no tickets needed. The smoke from the casino area got pretty intense as the evening progressed.

I Was There Yesterday Way Too Crowded For That Tight Of A Space The Layout Of The Overall Show Blew I Usually Look Forward To Going Every Year I Hope They Dont Have It There Next Year Although I Enjoyed Visiting With Todd And Barry Getting The Lowdown On Big E Fishing Also Always Good Seeing Monty And Annette From A&m… Till Next Time Fellers

I look forward to the show every year, when I heard it was being held at a casino that was it for me. Im sure the show promoter got the area very cheap. Thy figure we will hang around a spend all our hard on checks on the cards. No thanks.

I heard they were goona build a building there just to hold the show for up coming seasons but who knows

Maybe its just me and my observations, but why is it that when any of us find something in life we really enjoy, someone or something comes along and screws it up?

Just got back from the show. Don’t know what everyones problem is but while it was busy and crowded I had no problem getting around or into any booth. I admit I would have been upset at having to be in the overflow area of the casino. As someone who has been in trade shows as both a customer and a vendor, having too wide of an aisle can let traffic go by too fast, some booths would not be noticed. Some of these vendors are people just getting started in business and need to be noticed by as many people as possible.
I almost didn’t go after reading the negative reports this morning, but I
am glad I went. I go to these shows not only to find things to buy but also as a way to relieve stress from my normal business life and to see new ideas and products. I dont consider spending $9.00 for an afternoons entertainment outrageous at all. I do hope work allows me to come down on the 14th and meet everyone, and I hope you can get some vendors. But be careful that you don’t run any vendors off with negative talk about other shows.
I want to see all shows and vendors succeed, and if I do get to come down on the 14th, please don’t throw me in the water.

A friend of mine came down from Springfield so I went back today to spend some time with him and listen to some of the seminars. I talked to a few folks about the new arrangement and some of them loved it others didn’t. I know I saw people spending money everywhere. I got my $9 worth. Todd didn’t care for all the smoke in the casino while he was speaking but sold more stuff today than he has in any other 4 day show combined. Another guy I met from Springfield loved the compactness of things. He was able to shop more crappie stuff in one place than anywhere he had ever been before. I personally didn’t spend any time shopping because I just don’t like crowds pushing me along but obviously some folks loved it. But then again I fish by myself most of the time but I do enjoy spending time talking about fishing one on one with others. By the way, Todd said start looking shallow in about 10 days and forget about water temp, it has to do with hours of daylight. Wally has been wearing them out shallow or just off the shallows in the creek channels since Christmas. Wally also said “GET NORTH OF WINGANON BRIDGE!” if you want to catch big crappie consistently.

Good point Lakebum. Nine bucks really isn’t that much to a lot, but I can see where it would keep the window shoppers like me out. I promise not to throw you in the lake. Would love to see you make it. Since this is my vacation, I plan to spend most of my time fishing. I plan to meet several new folks, but like I said, I’m there to fish.

Lakebum; Your right on about the shows, I’ve been a vendor/customer as well it does make a better show with crowded isles the slower the better. But charging vendors is not bad…just the amounts are outrageous [ if you read the rates on the shows website bulk rates recieve a discount] but your looking at over a thousand dollars for a large space. That takes at least 3 days sales to make up, then you have other costs as well. It basically turns into a high end advertising campaign, We used to do well at Tulsa & OKC. until they started getting on the high horse.

To each their own I have sold alot of fishing poles from people passing thru that liked my price better than the show after going I wished I would have gotten a booth I know I would have sold plenty of poles because they are good poles for one and my prices are better than at the show but I am sticking to my guns about spending 9 dollars to go inside the show

To each his own but i was not impressed. I didnt find a good deal on a single item. it seemed as if most thing were a dollar or two more expensive there. Some things definatly alot more than that. Went to nabatak afterwords to get the stuff i needed. It was packed! said they had been busy all day with people who were expecting to find tackle out there and either couldn’t or it was way over priced. If you enjoyed it good for you this is just my 2 cents.
