Excellent event, even though it was kinda last minute. The original event was scheduled for Lake Monroe, but the flooding there after hurricane Ian kinda put a damper on that idea. So Billbob was on his way down anyway; we just rescheduled it last minute to Griffin. Yay
I want to thank everyone for coming, and especially y-slabs and anchorman for supplying the fillets. And Taterlicious too (he could not make it, was sick and did not want to pass it on, but I understand he did pass on some fillets, yay). The fish was awesome, thanks for cooking them up2, and Orion. And all the other plates that were brought. We ate like kings, we really killed it, but we had plenty. Please chime in on what was brought so we can give credit. CG1 brought Cake, Ron brought Deviled Eggs, Oma brought tater salad, Skeet brought Joan’s salad, Shu brought extra special baked beans, Jessica brought Sammiches from Publix and I guarantee I forgot something. Oh I seen an Apple Pie was left too, mmmmm, I don’t know what ever happened to that!!! go figure…
Please chime in as I’m sure I forgot stuff
Oh, the Venison sausage, all spicy and cheesy, was brought to us by BuckeyeCrappie. He provided that to Billbob and I when we stopped in by him in Ohio.
This was a pic we took way early cause some of the members had to leave. Something about babysitting, and a wedding too, I dono. But it sure was great that they were able to stop and chat.
Looks like a good event and a wonderful morning on the water. Good pics. All sounds yummy especially the spicy cheesy sausage! But I need to know….. was there any Cheerwine? :Rofl
Up2specks brought his scale, thanks Dougy. But we didn’t need it to determine who had the winning “big fish”. I simply asked for what length their biggest was and we had a tie. Vic and Shu won with both having caught a 12.5 inch crappie. No need for accuracy here, close enough for the contests I choose to run. So they were able to choose the fishing rod of their liking. Yay. Wasn’t a bad day of fishing, wasn’t great either. They had just sprayed all the hydrilla on the south east end of griffin where we were. But some still squeaked out good catches. Loved the even all around, was lots of fun.
And we also had Crappie.com calendars. The 2023 crappie.com calendar Redge made up arrived about one half hour before I left for the event. So everyone got calendars. Oh, I sold Crappie.com hats for a buck each. And somehow I didn’t end up with any money! doh, go figure, no hats left, and no money either, no problem, no worries here…
And so sorry for those that could not attend, but tried. Some got sick, some had scheduling issues. But it was a great event for all those that attended. No worries though, there’s always next time. Thanks to all that did make it. And don’t forget, post pictures here on Crappie.com, we love pictures. Forget fakebook.
Sorry I missed it, had planned on coming over to meet everyone but came down with the “BUG” 2 weeks ago and did not feel good enough to come over to introduce myself. Will try to make the next one for sure. Looks like everyone had a good time.
Cheerwine, nope, not sure anyone know what that’s all about. Splain it to’em if you would. Good stuff once you drink the first half and get used to it. lol
Billbob is finally ready to retire. He’s got a baitshop now. Speckanator set him up. He says he’s selling Cheerwine, so we know it’ll be a success. Cheerwine and Slabsauce will take him over the top for sure.
I had a great time rubbing elbows with folks I don’t get to see very often. The food was excellent and I didn’t need much dinner. Crappiegirl brought cake that I think everyone had a piece of. I second Slabs statement about the deer sausage too. Haven’t had any in a good while and it was super. Up2 and Orion had more fish than we could eat all prepared, thanks guys. Good Job!! Though I didn’t fish it was well worth the drive and I’m looking forward to a spring fling. If the water ever goes down!! Thanks to everyone who did a part to make a good event.
Looks like Vic Is the leader of the pack with his 12.5 incher, while cleaning the fish this morning i checked where we measured the fish yesterday and mine went 12.25 inches and that is what it still is. congrats to Vic always does well. will get a better way to measure our fish next time.–shu
