I have been reading the good advice and words of encouragement that the members of this forum freely give out to new fisherman and it is a pleasant surprise to see that everyone truly tries to help each other out. I am a dedicated duck hunter who after the season has ended:(, is in the process of becoming quickly addicted to the world of crappie fishing. I am wanting to rig my hunting boat out for crappie. I have a 16ft Lowe with front/rear casting decks/live well and trolling motor.I will be fishing both at night and during the day, mostly at night. I will be fishing Wylie and Wateree.
Any advice or photos of your on rigs in regard to what equipment will be required for the boat? Any other helpful tips for beginners will be greatly appreciated. I have an 11 yr old son and a 13 yr old daugter that are looking forward to going with me…I just want to make sure I have everything needed in order to make it an enjoyable trip for them. Thanks and I am really looking forward to getting on the water:)
good electronincs really help. you might try an eagle fishmark 480. great unit very inexpensive. keep it simple and enjoy your time with your kids. they will grow up before you know it.
the fastest and best way to see how a nightstalker is doing it is join with one on his boat one night and see how hes set up then you can get some ideas on how to apply what hes doing to your rig. it will save you a lot of trial and error and money. let it be known you wanna join one and im sure you will get a invite :D.

Rango said it best, try to go with someone and pick their brain or look for some pictures of peoples setups. I’m very inexperienced night fishing for crappie. Sat out many nights after catfish but that’s a different game.

Welcome aboard. Another good advise is good lights (floating lights, submergable, and uglies. Glad im not the only one with an obsession for duck hunting

I am taking Rango’s advice…if there are any nightstalkers out there with an open spot on their rig for a newbie to tag along one night let me know. I am more than glad to help out with the cost of fuel, bait, beverages, etc…and will try and not ask too many questions…thanks and good luck:)
