I got some mylar to make painting stencils for lures and blades but I have been drawing a blank as to what to make.
Anyone have any ideas of what patterns to make so I have a variety to cover a lot of different patterns and baitfish designs?
I need something that I can use to paint blades, dodgers, jig heads and whatever hopefully with an airbrush in the future.
If I try to do them freehand the fish will look at them like something else already took a chunk out of them. :Rofl
Fish scales, dragon scales, garlic bag netting are starters. I use painter tape, a scalpel and create stuff as well. Old cloth doilies work awesome as well( I picked up a ton at yard sales last summer). Fishnet hose, window screen. The skies the limit and I’m always looking at stuff thinking about Iffn I can use it as a stencil.
I’m gonna design them to cut out of mylar.
There are design programs out there especially if your going to use a cutter.
we have done a lot of work with scales in the past on the body of plastic baits a lot of work and the only thing it really catches is the fisherman. I don’t know if you’ve seen my work in the past. We used a pill bottle and took the material like a scale or whatever we call it and take a rubber band and put it around the top of the opening and then take the end of it and dip it in powder The type you use in making plastic and dab it on the side of the plastic and then dipped the plastic in clear plastic and you can get pretty crazy doing this also?

You’ve gotten some good ideas so far. I’ve used a lot of what buckeye suggested with good success. I’ve also taped some bigger areas and got busy with an xacto. Some of them came out good, still have a couple. Some got painted over. Just keep trying new stuff and you’ll find what you’re after.
